25 Episodes Across New York During the 2026 World Cup

During the 2026 World Cup, I spent a few weeks in New York producing Gameday Gourmet with Danyal Khan. What started as a food and football series quickly became something much bigger for me.

We ended up making 25 episodes with just the two of us. Danyal hosted, while I handled the production, shooting and editing. That meant moving constantly, adapting quickly, meeting people on the fly and often finding the story while we were already in the middle of it.

What I loved most was that the series became a way of experiencing the World Cup through New York itself. We met people from different communities, heard their stories, ate with them, celebrated with them and saw how football could bring together people from completely different backgrounds.

Visually, I wanted the series to bring together two sides of filmmaking that I really enjoy: cinematic imagery and the pace, hooks and momentum of social content. The documentary side came from staying curious, talking to people and being ready to follow the story when something interesting happened.

Looking back, I’m proud of the scale of what we managed to make with such a small team, but even more proud of the people and moments we captured along the way. The project became less about covering a football tournament and more about documenting the cultures, communities and atmosphere surrounding it.
